02/24/2015 – Unified Sports Information Available

February 24, 2015 Athletic Department Blog Updates

The KHSAA announced their partnership with Special Olympics Kentucky before Christmas. We are excited to now share information with schools about how schools may begin organizing Unified Track and Field teams and competitors.

This athletic event will give many of the students in member schools the opportunity to compete in exhibition events, much like the wheelchair events added several years ago. We look forward to working with schools on this new opportunity which includes grant money for coaches from SOKY.

The following links should help get schools started. They include a frequently asked questions document (or FAQs) that will help explain what Unified Track and Field is, as well as a registration form and the grant application provided by Special Olympics Kentucky. These links can all be found on the khsaa.org website on the track page under the General Information Button and the catagory called Unified Track and Field Information.

SOKY Registration Form (also available as .doc on the website)

Please contact our office with any questions.  This is a new program for the KHSAA and we look forward to the growing pains that come with expanding opportunities for the students in the Commonwealth.
