09/29/14 – Four Measures Receive Approval at Annual Meeting

September 29, 2014 2014-2015 News Releases

At the Annual Meeting of the membership of the KHSAA, four proposals received the votes necessary for approval. The membership was represented by 215 of the schools (out of 277 members), a turnout very comparable to the past few years, with 144 votes (2/3 majority of those present) being required for a proposal to receive approval.

The proposals will now go to the KHSAA Board of Control for a formal recommendation to the Kentucky Board of Education. Absent any procedural snags, the proposals will go to the Kentucky Board of Education for a two-meeting consideration phase, with final approval by the Kentucky Board of Education anticipated in April. Following that consideration, if approved, the proposals will go to the Regulation Review Subcommittee of the Kentucky General Assembly and the Interim Education Committee for final approval with a hopeful effective date of August 1, 2015 for any changes.

The following was the voting for those issues. The “PRE (present)” indicates those that had signed the roll, but did not submit a ballot for the voting session, “ABS (abstain)” was a vote declaring an abstention:
