FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 2, 2017

The first state championships of the 2017-18 season will be contested this week at the Bowling Green Country Club with the 2017 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championships. The boys’ tournament begins Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7 a.m., with the final 18 holes slated for Wednesday, Oct. 4. The girls’ championship gets underway with first round action on Friday, Oct. 6, followed by the second round on Saturday, Oct. 7.

On the boys’ side, Lyon County’s Cullan Brown will look to repeat as individual medalist while St. Xavier will be in search of its fourth-straight team title. Brown claimed the 2016 state title with a five-under par 139 (66-73), while St. Xavier posted a 606 team score (288-318) to finish atop the leaderboard. For the girls, Sacred Heart will look to repeat as team champion after capturing the 2016 state title with a 628 total (315-313).
