The mandatory Online KHSAA Rules Clinic for the sport of Golf is available beginning today, August 4. Below is additional information:
August 4 to September 7 - the Golf Clinic will be online only and may be viewed by coaches at no charge during this period.
September 8 to September 21 - the Golf Clinic will be online only and may be viewed by coaches for the makeup fee ($100) during this period.
September 22 to September 28 - the Golf Clinic will be online only and may be viewed by coaches for the makeup fee ($300) per the Bylaw 27 schedule during this period. After this time, postseason penalties per Bylaw 27 will apply.

KHSAA Partners With First String Media, PrepSpin.com For Enhanced Web Streaming Network

Through a new venture launched prior to the start of the 2013-14 season, the KHSAA has transitioned its online video broadcast network (KHSAA.tv) to an internal operation through a new partnership with First String Media and PrepSpin.com. After outsourcing its championship webcasts in previous seasons, this year’s championship events will feature live video streaming and highlight packages produced internally through the new partnership. Live video streaming, archived broadcasts and highlight packages will remain free of charge through the Association’s website.
KHSAA.org will remain the exclusive home for live video streaming of KHSAA Championship events, with live championship coverage of 11 events, and post-event highlight packages provided for six other sports and sport-activities. Pairings Set For Volleyball, Soccer Championships
The KHSAA conducted its annual draw shows for volleyball and boys’ and girls’ soccer at its headquarters on Monday afternoon. An archived copy of the show, which was streamed live online, is available at KHSAA.org.
The KHSAA Soccer State Championships begin with the Boys’ Semi-State round on Monday, Oct. 28, followed by the Girls’ Semi-State games on Tuesday, Oct. 29 – all of which will be played on campus sites. The tournaments move to Lexington following the Semi-State round. Quarterfinal action takes place on Saturday, Nov. 2, with Lafayette hosting the girls’ games and Henry Clay hosting the boys’ contests. 2013 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac/KHSA Golf State Championships This Week
The KHSAA will award its first state championship trophies of the 2013-14 season this week when the 2013 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac/KHSAA Golf State Championships visit the Bowling Green Country Club. The boys’ championship (Oct. 7-9) will start off the week with a practice round on Monday. First Round play will begin at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, with the final round beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Live scoring for both tournaments will be available through GolfStat.com, with the boys’ results available at:

Golf Regionals Monday and Tuesday; Leachman/KHSAA State Golf Championship Next Week
Golfers from around the state will vie for a spot in the first state championship event of the 2013-14 season as regionals are held Monday (boys) and Tuesday (girls) throughout the Commonwealth. The 2013 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championships will take place next week at the Bowling Green Country Club. The boys’ championship will be held Oct. 7-9, followed by the girls’ event Oct. 10-12.
Results from the regionals will be posted to the golf home page at KHSAA.org as soon as they become available. Pairings and tee times will also be available online, with live scoring for the events available through GolfStat.com.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association shall sponsor postseason competition in golf for boys and girls, provided that ten (10) percent of the member schools declare intentions to participate in said competition. Member schools desiring to participate in KHSAA sponsored postseason competition shall notify the Association office prior to September 1. The Commissioner shall divide the state into geographic sections with the approval of the Board of Control. Newly added or deleted programs will be handled on a case by case basis by the Commissioner’s office.

For all KHSAA postseason competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a distance-measuring device that shall be capable of measuring distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect play (e.g., gradient/slope, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification. This penalty is to be imposed whether or not any such additional function is actually used. NOTE: The restriction on the use of distance-measuring devices that are capable of measuring anything but distance will be reiterated in the published instructions and KHSAA hard card, and golfers directed to not use any of the restricted devices while they are on the course. LEACHMAN BUICK-GMC-CADILLAC/KHSAA STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEK
Bowling Green will be the center of the Commonwealth’s high school golf activity this week as boys’ and girls’ individual and team champions will be crowned. For the seventh consecutive year the Bowling Green Country Club will play host to the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championships.
Following a practice round on Monday, the girls’ tournament begins at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, with an 8 a.m. tee time scheduled for Wednesday. The boys’ practice round will take place on Thursday, followed by a 36-hole tournament on Friday and Saturday. Tee times for the boys be at 7 a.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday.

The last day to complete the online rules clinic for coaches in the sport of golf without a fine is August 22, 2012. If you have already completed the clinic, please disregard this message.Athletic Directors may check attendance by going to the school login page and viewing their “maintain school personnel” page to be sure. Coaches need to check with their Athletic Directors if there is any question about the completion of this requirement (see your AD for verification). For those coaches who have not taken the rules clinic: The rules clinic remains free online through midnight Eastern Time on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. You will need to login at http://schools.khsaa.org/authorize/login.php?url=/index.html to view the clinic. After August 22, the clinic will be available online but only with the payment of a fine. Now that contests have been completed and individual statistics can be entered, there are steps to be taken to open and initialize rosters. This step was clearly detailed in the August 7 blog entry available at http://khsaa.org/87-2012-2013-rosters-available-to-be-opened-and-edited/. Your AD will need to follow these steps prior to the entry of new players or editing of the current roster. All of this has to be done before stats can be entered on a game-by-game basis.
