Please consider the
rotation of regional district matchups for postseason. A rotation of districts 3, 4 ,5 & 6
would be possible with proximity a plus.
Thank you! |

We have AT LEAST one 2 1/2
to 3 hour road trip each year.
(Marshall & Graves are at least 2 1/2 hours) In addition - Christian County is 1 hour 45
minutes. We are better off
GEOGRAPHICALLY with a 5 class system.
(Indiana has twice as many high schools and only has 5 classes. If we had complete knowledge of the
placement prior to alignment - we would have chosen to compete 6A. At 6A we would have only had one 3 hour bus
trip EVERY OTHER YEAR (McCracken County) and all other trips would have been
under 90 minutes |

When deciding to play in
2A, we thought that there would be more schools located in our geographical
region. As it stands now, West Carter is the only school located within 75
miles of our school. That means that on two occasions, Bath County will be
traveling to the Covington/Erlanger area and spending over $1,000 in travel
costs. With the proposed alignment,
we would be in favor of moving to 3A and playing in District 5 with other
schools that are closer in distance. These include Fleming, Lewis, Russell
and Pendleton. Even 3A, District 7 has four schools (Morgan, Estill,
Breathitt and Powell) that are closer to Bath County than the four schools
proposed in the present alignment.
Four years ago, Bath County asked to be moved to 3A for economic
purposes. The proposed current alignment places us in the same situation.
Therefore, we humbly ask to be placed in 3A. |

Changes: My only question is in regards to 5A
football between district 3 and 4. Why
would you have South Oldham and Oldham drive by Fern Creek, Atherton, and
Southern on their way to play a district game against North Bullitt and
Bullitt Central. Solution: Move Southern and Fairdale to District 4
and move South Oldham and Oldham to district 3. You would still have 6 team district and a
nice concentric region while eliminatng unnecessary travel. I know the Jefferson county schools want to
be together, but they shouldn't get to make that call.you have split the
Bullitt County schools many times in all sports. |

I realize that the playoff
rotation for 6A is only projected out the next 3 years but I would be highly
against the idea that districts 1 vs 2 and 7 vs 8 are paired against each
other on a yearly basis and rotate districts 3, 4, 5, & 6. District 7 & 8 are just as close
geographically to 3 & 4 than the northern ky districts. |

Clinton County has been out
of district play for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. We feel we will not be ready to compete in the district at
least until mid-alignment. We are
requesting that we would be able to stay out of district play for the 15 and
16 seasons and to rejoin the district for the 17 and 18 seasons if our
numbers are still up at that time. |

The only issue, as head
coach, is that we moved from a 3A district with 6 teams to a 6 team 4A
district. Someone has to be the smallest 4A school, but I feel that with our
location and community population, we would be better suited as a 3A school
in district 4 with Russell, Fleming, Pendleton, and Lewis. Either way, we'll

We oppose the draft
alignment for travel reasons. The new draft alignment adds several miles to
our travel within district and regional play over what it has been with the
current alignment. Within our school district, we continue to face difficult
challenges with our transportation budget and we have been informed that our
budget will be cut significantly for the upcoming 2014-15 school year. As a
result, we have tremendous concerns about travel for our athletic programs. We would like to propose the
following: District 5--Franklin Co.,
East Jessamine, West Jessamine and Mercer Co. District 3--Breckinridge Co., John
Hardin, Marion Co. and Taylor Co.
District 4--Collins, North Oldham, Spencer Co., Western and
Valley With this proposal, travel is
reduced considerably within district play as well as in region play. The
longest distance would be 78 miles (Scott) versus 113 miles (Breckinridge
Co.) We understand that our request
to move also affects four other schools (Marion Co., Taylor Co., Western and
Valley), and we welcome their feedback and the feedback of the BOC on our
proposed alignment. As you know, some districts are challenging to set up
travel and distance wise, because no matter which avenue you take, there is
considerable travel involved. The proposal we came up with attempts to
address travel concerns in the most fair way possible for all involved. Thank you for the opportunity to share
our thoughts with the draft alignment and thanks also for your consideration
to our proposal. |

We oppose the alignment
proposal due to travel, competition, no established rivals, better gate, and
less travel. The travel from Jackson County to Bell and Casey counties would
be far greater than that Breathitt and or Morgan County. As well as travel, because
of the limited tradition of our team we believe that staying in the previous
district is better for our football program and that playing teams such as
Bell County and Corbin will only be detrimental to our program and drive our
numbers down. We are trying to build at Jackson County and staying in the
proposed district would only hinder our growth. Jackson County would like to
be in the district with our previous teams as well as possibly Estill and
Powell who we are in the geographic proximety with and are more comparable.
Also our gate would suffer due to the fact of our are only competetive
district games would be Casey and McCreary who are both very far away and
there would be little hope against Bell and Corbin. We appreciate your
consideration for our concerns and hope that you will look into putting us
into another district that would help Jackson County Football grow for the
future. |

The only issue we have is a
minor issue in the grand scheme. We

We prefer rotating
districts for the playoffs similiar to how they do in Class 6A. This would
mean that one year we would match up

We have been placed in
Class 6A. We have the lowest historical population of all 6A schools and with
the closure of an entire brigade at Ft Knox, our population will not
substantiate us being a 6A school. We will lose hundreds of students.
Recommend we be placed in class 5A. This move would be prudent based on the
certain loss we will incur. |

I know that Fort Knox High
School was given the opportunity to move down in a class due to 3500 troops
and families being stationed elsewhere in the US. Looking at our numbers alone, we believe
that our student population will be decreasing as well due to this move. We believe that we will lose around 150-200
students in our building. Since we are
near the very bottom of 6A, we would like to be placed in the 5A class. Thanks for your consideration on this
matter. |

We will have to drive to
Christian County 1 hour 40 minutes,
Graves County 2 hours 40 min, Marshall County 2 hours and 15 min every
two years. Then possibly play them
again in the playoffs. It is
difficult, our school releases at 3:20pm, to get a bus before 4:15. Then we must load and go. It put us in a bind to get to the game,
unload, tape, warm-up, play, then get home before 1 am. Finally, I have not mentioned the cost of
travel. I am sure the other schools
have similar concerns. |

Oppose the inclusion of
Hazard in 1A District 8...move Hazard to District 6(making a 4 team district)
or replace with Paintsville due to
travel distance. This is also a 5 team
district...one of two in 1A...while others are 3 and 4 team districts. The
60th District had to realign our basketball district due to other districts
have more teams in than our distirct.
If the re-alignment was ok to make districts even... then the same
rules should apply to football as well. |

I recommend a move for
Sheldon Clark High School to 2A. While
I have listed several reasons to the KHSAA Board of Controls, these are two
of our main points: • From the 2010-2011
school year until February 5, 2014, our boys’ enrollment has dropped from 361
to 288 (a 20.2% decrease in boys enrollment over 4 years). • From the 2012-2013 school year until
February 5, 2014, our boys’ enrollment has dropped from 336 to 288 (a 14.3%
decrease in boys enrollment over 2 years). These enrollment figures should place
us in the 2A classification. We
appreciate your consideration.

Geographically, it seems
more efficient for Webster Co to be in 2A district 2 and move Todd Co Central
to 2A district 1. When calculating
mileage, for Webster to travel in district 1, the estimated total amount of round
trip mileage to the schools is 565 miles where Todd co Central's total amount
of round trip mileage is 570 miles.
For Webster to travel to district 2, the estimated total round trip
mileage is 400 miles while the estimated round trip mileage for Todd Co
Central is 600 miles. These figures
were taken off of mapquest and to each school's respective town. Based on these numbers, Webster Co would
like to petition that we be placed in district 2 for class 2A and move Todd
Co Central to district 1. |

FROM:Principal: The
proposed football realignment would create a financial hardship on West
Carter High School. Travel expenses would be substantially increased. Out of
the six teams in the proposed Class 2A District 6, four of them are located
in the Northern KY area. This would
mean two trips per year that would be a considerable cost to our football
program. It could possibly mean that
West Carter would have to drop football.
We would propose a change to Class 3A District 5. We were less than 30 students from reaching
the class 3A enrollment cutoff. Travel
would be greatly reduced for us since the trip to Pendleton County would only
be once every other year and the other trips would be within an hours
drive. Please consider our thoughtful
request, as I am sure it was not the
intention of the KHSAA to create an undue financial burden on the West Carter
High School football program.
FROM:AD:West Carter can not financially compete in 2A District 6. The cost of travel would put such a burden
on our program, that it would destroy it. We already have a financially
strapped program due to low numbers, our location in a high poverty community
and a lack of financial support from our local board. When the decision was
made to remain 2A (due to our small enrollment), we never imagined being
placed in a district where 4 of the 5 schools will require 2+ hours of travel
each way and thousands of dollars in transportation costs. In addition, this
extreme travel would not be possible by the majority of our parents which
would result in drastically lower ticket sales and huge gate losses for all
teams involved. In no way can this move be considered beneficial or in the
best interest of our student-athletes, our families or our program. We request admission to 3A District 5 along
with Fleming, Lewis, Pendleton and Russell. This is the district we have played
in for several years. It would not
bankrupt our program and would be in the all-around best interest of West
Carter football. |
