Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
Barry Barnes has dedicated his life to officiating Kentucky high school athletics. He has been a registered official since 1971. Barry also has served as the assigning secretary in basketball(8 years) and volleyball(15 years). Barry worked his first regional final in 1972 and has worked the regional final every year since. In 1983 Barry called his first Boys Basketball Sweet 16. During that tournament Barry worked 5 games, including the semi-finals and the finals. Over the years Barry has worked 16 KHSAA state tournaments and numerous All A state tournaments as well. Of the tournaments worked Barry has called 10 KHSAA finals and 7 All A finals. Started officiating in 1971- Third Region Basketball-48 years // Softball- 17 years // Volleyball- 19 years Basketball official of the year 1994-1995 Worked 13 Boys Sweet 16's- 9 Finals // 3 Girls Sweet 16's- 1 Final // 7 All A Finals
