Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
Gale is a graduate of Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 1970 and received her Rank I in Business Education from Murray State in 1981. In her 36 years as an educator, she spent the last 17 years as Athletic Administrator. She was supervisor of student services, homecoming, senior recognition, and extracurricular activities chairperson. Gale facilitated the Title IX program and was chairperson of the Madisonville All Sports Hall of Fame. Gale was a member of the state baseball, volleyball, track & cross country advisory committees of the KHSAA. She was board secretary, leadership training institute instructor and 20 year certificate of merit recipient of the KHSADA. Mrs. Travis is the 3rd Athletic Director in Kentucky (one of 75 in the country) to attain the level of Certified Master. She was the first KAPOS Outstanding Administrator award in 2008. She was the Region 2 and Kentucky's AD of the Year 2010. She also received the Brigid De Vries Outstanding Leadership Award in 2011. Since retirement, Gale continues to be active at the local and state levels. She is the secretary of KHSADA and teaches leadership training classes there and at NIAAA.
