Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
Bert was an Olive Hill basketball player who scored 3,172 career points. During his four years as a starter, his team's record was 126-22 with three Sweet 16 appearances including a semifinal appearance in 1959, a tournament in which he was the leading scorer. His career point total was a 16th region record until recently broken by Jonathan Ferguson of Elliott County. Made a shot from the center line to win the regional tournament in 1955. He was on the all-state team the same year as Commissioner Louis Stout. Named to multiple all-state teams. Greene also coached at several schools, succeeding legendary Coach Jack Fultz at Olive Hill which later consolidated into West Carter. Later officiated after retiring from coaching.
