Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
Federspiel played both sides on the gridiron for DeSales HS ('68 grad) and was the first player chosen from the school as a First Team All-State selection (at LB). Was named MVP of the East-West All-Star game after leading the West to victory. Went on to play at the Univ. of Kentucky (1969-71) before spending 10 seasons in the NFL (mostly w/ the New Orleans Saints).Two-time All-SEC selection and an All-America honoree from the Associated Press. 4th Round selection by the Saints in 1972.
