Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
Ida Bowen was 1991 Miss Basketball in Kentucky, scoring over 2700+ career points and gathering 300+ career rebounds. She signed and played for four years with Western Kentucky University, where as a freshman she played in the 1992 NCAA Final Four, in which WKU was National runner-ups. Bowen starred at Sheldon Clark High School. Bowen was a two-time Louisville Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald Leader All-State selection after being named her team's MVP on three occasions. She averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game as a senior, shooting 52 percent from the field and posting five blocks per game. She led the Kentucky All-Star team to a sweep of rival Indiana following her senior year at Sheldon Clark. Not only was Bowen an exceptional athlete she was also an exceptional person and representative of women’s sports.
