Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
A two-time Class 4A Player of the Year, Eric Shelton rushed for 4,970 yards with 59 TDs at Bryan Station. As a linebacker, he made 129 tackles, including 11 sacks and 41 tackles-for-loss. He was named All-State and 1st Team All-America by USA Today and Parade Magazine. In addition, Shelton was named Super Prep Elite 50, Super Southern by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and All-Southern by the Orlando Sentinel. He was rated the No. 6 player and No. 2 running back in America by ESPN. Shelton was recruited by every school in the country and signed with Florida State. He transferred to Louisville and became one of the Cardinals’ all-time leading rushers. He entered the 2005 NFL Draft following his junior season and was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the 2nd Round.
