Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
In 1985 Harold Mullins would help pave the way for live video broadcast of High School Sports in Eastern Ky. Specifically the 14th Region. He was a Pioneer for Eastern Kentucky Video Media He Broadcast KHSAA Sports for 38 years. On Television and Radio. Harold Was also a referee for 17 years. He coached several grade school and high school level sports. From 1966 to 2023 Harold only missed 4 years of the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen basketball tournament. He attended as a spectator as well as a broadcaster. Those 4 years missed was while he served in the Air Force. He also played 4 years of high school basketball at the Carr Creek High School. Harold Mullins received the Buckhorn Excellence in Media award for helping bring live media coverage to the community of Buckhorn. Harold lived and breathed KHSAA Sports. It was in his blood, and I'm positive most of you know this. I'm sure many of you have shared conversations with Harold, and had a laugh with him. He was a big supporter of the KHSAA and the people involved with it. When Covid came around and numbers were being limited in the gyms. Harold along with Hometown24 would once again be innovative. We would still bring coverage and exposure to the athletes of the 14th Region, but we would do it differently. We would send one employee to the gym with the camera and shoot the video back to the station, as Harold would call the game remotely. It was torture for Harold to not be there in person, but he understood the safety of the kids came first.
