Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
Billy Chumbler scored a school record 2,080 points at Lowes HS and was named Purchase Area Player of the Year and First Team All-State in 1962 and 1963. Chumbler was also recognized by Street and Smith magazine as an All-America Honorable Mention selection. He went on to play at Mississippi State University and Murray State University. After a successful career coaching in Illinois he returned to Kentucky and coached Paducah Tilghman, leading them to eight-straight district titles, three trips to the Sweet 16 and a State Runner-up finish in 1996. He last coached at Trigg County where they won three district championships and had three consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in school history.
