Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:
James "Joe" Hamilton was a dynamic guard that played for Lexington Dunbar from 1964-66, earning High School All-America and 1st Team All-State honors in 66' after leading all Lexington scorers with a 24.5 ppg avg. while shooting 47 percent from the field and 84.5 percent from the free throw line. He was named to the Kentucky high School All-Star team. Made All-Tournament team in both District and regional play in 65-66. Made the All-tournament team in the Trinity Invitational in 65 being the leading scorer, leading rebounder, and second in assists for the tournament. Left high school and became a 2-time Junior College All-American at Christian College of the Southwest in Texas averaging 31.5 ppg, which led the nation. Became an alternate on the United Stated Olympic team in 1968 for the Mexico games. Went to North Texas State University and was Missouri Valley 1st Team All-Conference both years and MVC player of the year as a senior. Still listed 4th best all-time player at NTSU and was inducted to the North Texas Hall of fame in 1989. Drafted and played pro basketball for the Dallas Chaparrals, San Antonio Spurs, Kentucky Colonels (Championship season), and the Utah Stars.
