07/12/18 – KHSAA Seeking Hosts for First Sectional Dance Competitions

The KHSAA is seeking member schools interested in hosting a Sectional postseason competition in the sport-activity of Dance. Sectionals will be held November 17-18 at four locations across the Commonwealth, with the competitions grouped by Regions (1-4, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16). If your school is interested in hosting a Sectional, please fill out the application found at the link below and provide all pertinent details (site specifications, event management experience, etc.).

Following the October 1 declaration by participating schools, state qualifiers will be based upon the number of teams in each section. In total, 16 teams from those four sections will advance to the state competition in each division offered:

Jazz – Small (7-16 competitors) / Large (17-30 competitors)

Hip Hop – Small (7-16 competitors) / Large (17-30 competitors)

Pom – Small (7-16 competitors) / Large (17-30 competitors)

The 2018 KHSAA State Dance Championships will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington.
