At its most recent meeting, the KHSAA Board of Control approved proposed changes to the Dance State Championship entry. The maximum squad size limit in all divisions was adjusted to 40 to align with the Universal Dance Association competitions. In the future, for KHSAA competition, if the individual dance competition styles have an average of 40 entries in at least three consecutive years statewide, the KHSAA will further divide that category into multiple divisions. Schools who wish to compete in the KHSAA Dance postseason for 2024-25 will receive a notification when DA101 (Dance Division Declaration form) is open and available.

The KHSAA will offer the following divisions for 2024-2025:

  • Jazz – minimum 5, maximum of 40
  • Game Day – minimum 5, maximum of 40
  • Pom – minimum 5, maximum of 40
  • Small Hip Hop – minimum 5, maximum 14
  • Large Hip Hop – minimum 15, maximum 40
