netcutThe Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys’ Sweet Sixteen is taking shape. Five region champions have been crowned, and 11 more will be determined tonight to complete the field.

Christian County (2nd Region), Doss (6th), Newport Central Catholic (9th), Paul Laurence Dunbar (11th) and South Laurel (13th) have locked up spots in the 99th state tournament, which will be played March 16-20 in Rupp Arena.

Here’s a region-by-region rundown:

  • 1st Region: McCracken County (24-9) vs. Murray (28-5)
  • 2nd Region: Christian County (29-2)
  • 3rd Region: Owensboro Catholic (21-9) vs. Meade County (22-10)
  • 4th Region: Barren County (28-5) vs. Bowling Green (29-2)
  • 5th Region: Bardstown (26-7) vs. Taylor County (23-8)
  • 6th Region: Doss (27-5)
  • 7th Region: St. Xavier (23-9) vs. Trinity (28-6)
  • 8th Region: Anderson County (18-13) vs. South Oldham (27-5)
  • 9th Region: Newport Central Catholic (28-4)
  • 10th Region: Augusta (24-6) vs. Mason County (22-10)
  • 11th Region: Paul Laurence Dunbar (29-6)
