All 2024 Regional Swimming & Diving Meets have concluded and results are now posted to the KHSAA website. The KHSAA Swimming State Qualifiers have been determined for the State First Round. State Finals Diving Qualifiers were released earlier this week: https://ly.khsaa.org/e4nw

STATE FIRST ROUND SWIMMING QUALIFIERS

  • All State First Round sites will run a timed final and will not use starting wedges. 
  • From Regions 1-3:
    • The top 2 per region per swimming event advance to the state First Round Site #1 = 6 total
    • After the automatic qualifiers from each region (6 total), the next best 10 times from Regions 1-3 will also advance for a total of 16 per event at Site #1.
  • From Regions 4-6:
    • The top 2 per region per swimming event advance to the state First Round Site #2 = 6 total
    • After the automatic qualifiers from each region (6 total), the next best 10 times from regions 4-6 will also advance for a total of 16 per event at Site #2.
  • From Regions 7-9:
    • The top 2 per region per swimming event advance to the state First Round Site #3 = 6 total
    • After the automatic qualifiers from each region (6 total), the next best 10 times from regions 7-9 will also advance for a total of 16 per event at Site #3.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS CONFERENCE CALL

  • Participating coaches are invited to join the KHSAA in a conference call that will take place on Tuesday, February 13th at 3:00 PM (ET).
  • Details about joining these calls will be sent to participating coaches/athletic directors on Monday morning.

  • Site #1 (Russell County High School, Russell Springs) *Central Time
  • Site #2 (University of Louisville, Louisville) *Eastern Time
  • Site #3 (Scott High School, Taylor Mill) *Eastern Time

  • Starting block wedges will not be allowed at the State First Round sites.

RELAY CARDS

  • Relay cards will be available from each First Round Administrative Official at the venue.
  • Up to eight (8) swimmers, listed from the KHSAA roster, may be listed on relay cards by the coach. 
  • No names may be added or deleted after the deadline to submit relay cards for the First Round meet, and cannot be altered if that relay qualifies for the State Finals. 
  • For 2024, if a school lists a swimmer on all three relay cards in the first round and said swimmer swims two relays and two individual events in the first round, the swimmer may be eligible for all three relays still in the final round at University of
    Kentucky if the swimmer fails to qualify for the final round in one of the individual events.
  • A swimmer is not entered into a final round relay event until they are declared on the relay card in the final round.
  • The swimmer is eligible because the student-athlete did not scratch an individual event, only failed to advance in a second individual event.
  • The swimmer MUST be listed on any and all relays the coach may want them to race in the first round to have this applicable.

QUALIFIERS FOR THE STATE FINALS 

  • A total of 24 competitors per event will qualify for the state finals at the University of Kentucky’s Lancaster Aquatics Center.
    • State First-Round Site #1 (Regions 1-3), the top three (3) competitors per event automatically qualify.
    • State First-Round Site #2 (Regions 4-6), the top three (3) competitors per event automatically qualify.
    • State First-Round Site #3 (Regions 7-9), the top three (3) competitors per event automatically qualify.
    • After the nine (9) automatic qualifiers from each first round, the next best 15 times statewide per event will be at-large qualifiers, for a total of 24 at the KHSAA State Finals.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association was organized in 1917 and is the agency designated by the Kentucky Department of Education to manage high school athletics in the Commonwealth.
