06/13/14 – Bluegrass State Games 7 on 7 for Football

Recently, we have had a couple of coaches request clarification regarding the Bluegrass Games and a proposed 7 on 7 competition. Management of the games have worked closely with KHSAA staff to ensure that all applicable rules are followed.

Provided that: the competition is held after the dead period and prior to the first legal date for shoulder pads (August 1 for all schools for 2014), no other equipment is worn, and the heat index guidelines are adhered to, there should be no issues with Kentucky teams participating and such participation does not count against scrimmage limitations. 

The Bluegrass games, including football coordinator Ron Mack and BGSG Executive Director Terry Johnson are in constant communication with the association to keep our schools rules compliant and yet offer opportunities to be part of the games.
