05/04/15 – Tennis State Updates
PrintNow that our regional championships have begun, it is time for you to begin making plans for the State Tennis Championships here in Lexington. Coaches, please review the links to information about the Tennis tournament found on the Tennis page of the KHSAA website (http://khsaa.org/sports/spring/tennis/). The documents will be updated each day as information is added.
- Hotel accommodations: The University Inn Hotel (859-278-6625) is holding 25 rooms at a set rate for KHSAA Tennis teams and is located across the street from the UK Campus. Other hotels are available, but you may have to research for the best rates.
- Thursday morning, you will need to report to the check-in (Big White Tent) and find either Butch Cope (at Shillito) or myself (at UK) to obtain your coaches credentials. Only those coaches who have completed the Online Rules Clinic will be on the list at check-in. You will sign-in and receive your wristband which will designate you as an authorized coach to the USTA official. It will also provide you free admission on both Friday and Saturday. Remember, you MUST WEAR THE ARMBAND AT ALL TIMES.
- Please let your players know that BLACK-SOLED SHOES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE STADIUM COURTS AT UK. Since no one will know their court assignment until they report for play, it is best to be prepared ahead of time for that provision.
- There are no “hard copies” of the Brackets. Please remember to either print your own set from the tennis page at http://khsaa.org/sports/spring/tennis/
or bookmark the link on your smart phone. The brackets will be updated periodically throughout the tournament. - Don’t forget your school buses will need to park at the UK Football Stadium and those buses at Shillito need to park in the large parking lot next to the Baseball complex. The park police will not allow people to park on the main roads. There is plenty of parking in several lots. Please review this Google earth map for assistance with the site: http://www.khsaa.org/tennis/shillitoparkmap.pdf
- This Blog post will be updated with more “State notes” as the week progresses.
