02/19/2025 – KHSAA/PlayVS State-level Esports Play Cancelled This Week Due To Weather

​Due to the extreme weather across the Commonwealth this week, the KHSAA (in partnership with PlayVS) has decided to cancel all state-level esports matches for the week. With widespread closures and staff/student inability to be at school, we want all coaches & players to prioritize safety.

​Cancellation will only apply to the below leagues & no action is required by coaches for these matches. However, all other leagues would need to reach out to PlayVS Support (support@playvs.com) if impacted

• Kentucky KHSAA – High School – League of Legends – Varsity
• Kentucky KHSAA – High School – Mario Kart – Varsity
• Kentucky KHSAA – High School – Madden NFL 25 Solos (PS5)
• Kentucky KHSAA – High School – NBA 2K (PS5) – Varsity
• Kentucky KHSAA – High School – Rocket League – Varsity
• Kentucky KHSAA – High School – Smash Ultimate – Varsity
• Kentucky KHSAA – High School – Splatoon 3 – Varsity

This will reduce the season to 7 weeks without affecting current standings. PlayVS will make in-platform updates to the leagues today.

​For schools that have forfeited, rescheduled, or already played this week, we will also provide cancellation for those matches to ensure fairness for postseason opportunities with 7 total weeks of play across the board.​ All matches from yesterday (2/18), today (2/19), & tomorrow (2/20) will be part of the cancellation
