2/2/24 – KHSAA / PlayVS Spring 24 Esports Dashboard and Other Updates

I hope your preparations are going well for this season. I’d like to use this opportunity to share a few updates since enrollment closes two weeks from today (2/16).

PlayVS is FREE:
Beginning this Spring 2024 season, PlayVS will no longer charge competition fees, enabling high schools to play in our state and regional leagues at no cost. All games and all leagues are FREE!

Preseason
The Preseason action kicks off next Monday, February 5!

Spring 2024 Enrollment Update
I get the question quite a bit from coaches and ADs asking if they have enrolled properly in PlayVS for this upcoming season. I have created a post – a team dashboard – alpha by school, that was updated as of 1/26. This list does not update live directly from PlayVS’ online system, but it will be updated when my contact updates the Google Sheet. Here is the link to that dashboard:

Enrollment Deadline:
Don’t forget! Spring Enrollment closes 2/16/24 @ 11:59 PM EST. The earlier you get your students enrolled, the quicker they can participate in the action during the preseason!

Status of non-State League Game Titles
Per the current numbers we have, and with two weeks of enrollment left, it does appear that we will have enough to move Splatoon 3 (Nintendo Switch) to the State League this season.  We will not know, however until after the 16th.

KHSAA Online Roster & Coaching Databases
Now that you can see the number of players per school on your dashboard, it is imperative the KHSAA Online Roster system (https://schools.khsaa.org/roster/) matches what coaches have entered into PlayVS’ roster system. We need those numbers to match. Remember – They have to be loaded into PlayVS’ roster system to play the games, but they must be in our system to be eligible to play the games. That is the same way with your coaching staff as well. We had some issues in the fall that had to be cleaned up pretty quickly.

Student and Coaching requirements
Just a quick reminder that like every other KHSAA Sport or Activity, each student must have a physical and all Coaches head/assistant/paid/unpaid are subject to KHSAA Bylaw 25 Coaching Requirements
