FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 15, 2021

Four state champions will be determined Thursday afternoon as the PlayVS/KHSAA Esports Winter State Championships head to the UKFCU Esports Lounge at The Cornerstone on UK’s campus. Tickets to the event are only available for purchase online and can be found at khsaatickets.org.

The championships get underway at 4:30 p.m. as Henry Clay squares off against Lafayette in the League of Legends finals, while Shelby Valley takes on DuPont Manual in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The event continues at 6 p.m. as Lafayette faces Trinity (Lou.) in Madden ’21, followed by Bowling Green versus Trinity (Lou.) in the Rocket League championship match at 7 p.m.

Those unable to attend Thursday’s championships can watch the event live online through the NFHS Network or Twitch.tv (https://www.twitch.tv/PlayVS_2).

About the Kentucky High School Athletic Association
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association was organized in 1917 and is the agency designated by the Kentucky Department of Education to manage high school athletics in the Commonwealth. The Association is a voluntary nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of 286 member schools both public and non-public. The KHSAA awards 215 state championships to 51 teams and 164 individuals in 13 sports and 6 sport-activities, funds catastrophic insurance coverage for its more than 106,000 rostered member school student-athletes, provides coaching education and sports safety programs for more than 12,000 coaches, and licenses and facilitates the distribution of training material for over 4,000 contest officials.
