We received late this week, some reminders from our partners at the Kentucky Department for Public Health regarding the Solar Eclipse on Monday. Each school and district will have to make its own decision regarding activity, but there are cautions that should be exercised during outdoor athletic competitions on Monday, April 8.

Please see the information they have provided to our office and therefore to our member schools. There is no mandatorily directed action, but clearly, any outdoor sports (including simulating warm-up activities) should not occur until after the period of totality that is visible in your specific area.

There are several ways to see the anticipated path including websites at https://www.greatamericaneclipse.com/kentucky-2024-eclipse and https://www.weather.gov/lmk/eclipse_2024.

The resource documents from the Kentucky Department for Public Health, including social media post information that may be shared, at located at https://khsaa.org/04-02-2024-kdph-resource-documents-related-to-april-8-2024-solar-eclipse/.

Again, there is no mandatory action that needs to be taken, but wise advice would be to start any outdoor activity well after the period of totality in your area.
