02/23/16 – Swimming & Diving Championships Begin Thursday; Hall of Fame Tickets on Sale

The 2016 KHSAA Swimming & Diving Championships (Feb. 25-27) get underway Thursday afternoon at Ralph Wright Natatorium in Louisville with boys’ diving preliminaries at 1 p.m., followed by the girls’ diving prelims at 6:30 p.m. Competition resumes Friday morning at 10 a.m. with the boys’ swimming prelims. Girls’ swimming prelims are scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start time on Friday.

Saturday’s championship finals begin with the boys’ competition at 10 a.m. The state meet concludes with the girls’ championship finals, which are slated to start at 4:15 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the public at 9 a.m. on Friday for the morning session, and 2:30 p.m. for the afternoon session. On Saturday, ticket sales begin at 9 a.m. for the boys’ finals and 3:15 p.m. for the girls’ championship.

Tickets on Sale for Hall of Fame Banquet on March 19

The Dawahares/KHSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2016 will be inducted in an afternoon ceremony at the Lexington Center on Saturday, March 19th prior to the semifinals of the 2016 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16®. The banquet starts with a social hour at 12 p.m., followed by a luncheon at 1 p.m. and the induction ceremony at 2 p.m.

This year’s class consists of Sam Ball (Henderson County), Freddy Ballou (Madison/Model), Dr. James (Pete) Bowles (Contributor), Brigette Combs (Whitesburg), Joseph Federspiel (DeSales), Dominic Fucci (Tates Creek), Clarence (Big House) Gaines (Paducah Lincoln), Bert Green (Olive Hill), Charles Hunter (Ralph Bunche), Tenesha Marshall (Valley), Marshall Patterson (Fort Campbell) and G.J. Smith (Hazel Green, Laurel County, South Laurel).
