05/07/24- Reminders about Academic All State and Triple Threat Awards

As you approach awards nights, graduation nights and the end-of-year festivities, we wanted to remind you about two programs that have existed for many years, and yet are underutilized according to our data logs.

Started in the mid-1980s, the Academic All-State program recognized players who have maintained a cumulative 3.25 GPA (converted to a four-point scale) as honorable mention Academic All-State and players who have maintained a cumulative 3.75 GPA (converted to a four-point scale) as first Team Academic All-State.

The certificates are self-selected on the member school login page by:

1. logging into the school system at https://schools.khsaa.org/ and selecting Maintain/View/Print Rosters.
2. Select Maintain Overall Athletic Roster then
3. Select Academic All-State Certificates and follow the prompts to indicate the appropriate individuals, and then create the PDF file so they can be printed.

Begun in 2017, the Triple Threat recognizes student-athletes who have committed themselves to representing your school in at least three different varsity sports or sport-activities.

As we have shared at various meetings this year, the criteria have changed slightly based on membership feedback. Rather than requiring a sport each season, the criteria is simply three sports. Recent new offerings where sports were in two different seasons (variation of the same sport or sport-activity) played a hand in that decision as well as the fact that frankly, it recognizes the contribution of the students who have no control over which season a championship is held.

The certificates for the Triple Threat are automatically selected using your roster data, and can be found on the member school login page by:

1. logging into the school system at https://schools.khsaa.org/ and selecting Maintain/View/Print Rosters.
2. Select Maintain Overall Athletic Roster then
3. Select Triple Threat Certificate
4. The data will automatically populate, ask you your type of printer, and you can then click the Create PDF button.
