To kick off the 2026-27 school year, the KHSAA, along with Arbiter staff led by Zane Zientek, will conduct a series of important training webinars starting the week of July 20.

The first in the series will introduce and provide training for KHSAA member high school coaches and administrators on using the new Tournament Manager (2.0) tool.  For those managing this past spring’s Baseball and Softball regionals, you did get a preview as the tool was made available to our state office at the start of the postseason.

As of July 8, all high schools have access to the advanced capabilities of the new tournament manager for their regular-season tournaments.

There will be two 45-minute webinars.  The content will be the same, and registration is set so that registrants can attend any or both webinars if they choose.

The webinar dates:

Tuesday, July 21, with an additional option of Tuesday, July 28.  Both are set for 2:00 PM ET, with a maximum duration of 45 minutes each.  A video camera or microphone is not required, but it is essential that you are attending on a device that provides a clear view of the live demos shared via screen sharing.  As this is a webinar, questions will be answered via Zoom’s Q&A feature.  The webinars will both be recorded for sharing afterward.

What this webinar will provide:

  • Complete training on how to create regular-season tournaments of varying types:
    • Round Robins
    • Single Elimination
    • Double Elimination
    • Consolation rounds/contests
    • Tournaments that feature introductory pool-play rounds, followed by bracketed rounds.
  • Additional important reminders concerning scheduling for the upcoming school year.

There are a few brief highlights of what to expect in the webinar below, but to get straight to the required registration for the first two seminars, please use the following Zoom Registration link:

Please note that, again, the above link is not to view the webinars; you will receive that link once registered (with reminder emails sent the day of).  If you do not register, you will not be able to attend.  Make certain your email is entered correctly, as again, that is where the meeting link and information will be sent to.

We will cover the information below in great detail during the webinars, but to avoid any confusion leading up to them, we want to share a few insights.

What is Tournament Manager 2.0?

  • A complete replacement for the original tournament manager that schools have been accustomed to using for the last two school years.  It features:
    • Different tournament types (Round Robin, Single/Double Elimination, Consolation contests)
    • Compete, auto-advancing brackets based on scores entered anywhere in the 360 platform.  Managers no longer have to manually update advancers in future rounds.
    • Vastly improved handling of assignor groups and officials, and
    • much, much more.

What about any tournaments that I have already entered using the previous Tournament Manager?

  • They are unchanged and remain as created.  You will not be able to use the old tournament manager to create new tournaments.
  • As you recall, the previous tournament manager had to be used for any contest your school hosted, but in which you were not participating.   This is no longer necessary, as the Arbiter Team released the ability to add a new “Host Game” on the July 8 release – a quick step-by-step on how that works:  https://ly.khsaa.org/y2mq
  • It will be up to each school to decide whether the benefits of the new manager warrant deleting existing future tournaments and recreating them with the new tournament manager.  If you choose to remove these tournaments and recreate, be 100% certain that officials have not been assigned yet, and notify your assignor.

Who should attend?

  • Recommended for Administrators at this stage, but essentially anyone who will have the responsibility to enter and maintain tournaments for your school(s).  Though the initial registration link will be sent to KHSAA Athletic Directors, admins are free to send it to any head coaches that you feel have the ability to enter and maintain such tournaments
