04/15/2024 – Esports Spring Championship Update

April 15, 2024 Athletic Department Blog Updates

The postseason kicks off this week for the 2024 KHSAA Spring Esports Championships Presented by UK HealthCare.  Brackets for all seven sanctioned titles can be found at the following links:

The semifinalists and finalists in each sanctioned offering will compete in person on Thursday, April 25 at the UKFCU Esports Lounge at The Cornerstone on the campus of the University of Kentucky.

Please Note:

Due to increased participation in certain titles, there is going to be a short window of turnaround between the Quarterfinal rounds and the in-person events at UK.  This means that we will need to have the quarterfinalists of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate join the conference call next Tuesday, April 23.  More information will follow, but I want to make everyone aware for planning purposes.

The Quarterfinals of all titles are set to complete on the following dates:

  • Rocket League = This Friday, April 19
  • League of Legends = Monday, April 22
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe = Monday, April 22
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate = Tuesday, April 23
  • Splatoon 3 = This Wednesday, April 17
  • Madden NFL 24 = This Friday, April 19
  • NBA 2K 24 = This Thursday, April 18

The schedule for the in-person championship next Tuesday will be finalized with the University of Kentucky this Wednesday, April 17.  At that time, I will send out additional information including the schedule of events and team conference call information for our in-person championship
