Thanks to all of you for day 1! Outstanding day.

Couple of notes.

You should have been copied on the text related to team arrival. There were minor issues yesterday and on the grand scheme of things VERY MINOR. Thanks to all who helped resolution.

Secondly, remember that this is the largest scale event we have used our now four-year old ticket system to manage. We knew there would be issues.

We ask that you continue to stay totally out of conversations about why and how. Our job during this event is to manage the event. If someone has why questions, direct them directly to the Commissioner. No one else please. Gate 4 and 9 did a great job of resolutions yesterday at the huts and will continue to do so. And Carson and Cathy’s help was great with those one or two (literally, one or two) real trouble spots. That’s why those people were asked to do those jobs in all areas.

We know we had issues with commentary by some of the UK part-time staff and some public comments that I will address that with Scott as we go on. Remember our role is to get people in, not turn people away, and 4 and 9 are equipped to handle any dispute resolution. This could be a walkup credit card sale, verification of someone’s prior purchase or even the occasional handling of an “I don’t even have a credit card” sale.

Don’t allow yourself to get sucked into what-if discussions, or how/why/technology/logistics no matter who (and especially with who) that conversation is with. Remember, our number one job is simply to get folks in with respect to these issues.

We have managed extremely large and very small events for more than 100 years and are better prepared than any other group or entity to handle any situations that arise. And remember, simply because you are working, you are not expected to know every single thing. But you all know very well the role you are playing and you do it well! And you do a great job of referring questions as needed!

As we always say, there’s a reason for stripes on roads. It’s to keep people in lanes. And the travel is so much smoother when that occurs.

Thanks again for all of your help!
