8/7/23- Football Online Rules Clinic for Coaches Now Available
PrintThe mandatory online KHSAA Rules Clinic for the sport of Football is now available. We appreciate your patience while clarifications were compiled regarding one of the rule changes for 2023. The clinic is required of all coaches (varsity, junior varsity, and freshman) whether or not the coach receives pay.
FOR COACHES
For member schools, the clinics are located on the School Log-in Page. To access the clinic, go to https://schools.khsaa.org/ and — under the section entitled Rules Clinics — click on the link that says “View Online Rules Clinics“.
- Until Sept. 28 (Coaches) – the Football Clinic will be online only and may be viewed at no charge during this period through the school subdomain.
- September 29 to October 13 (Coaches) – the Football Clinic will be online only and may be viewed for the makeup fee ($100) during this period.
- October 14 to Oct. 28 (Coaches) – the Football Clinic will be online only and may be viewed for the makeup fee ($200) during this period. After this time, postseason restrictions and penalties per Bylaw 27 will apply.
Here are several notes about the presentation:
- The presentation can be viewed on most PC or Mac desktops and laptops, along with many HTML5-enabled mobile devices and tablets (to view system requirements click on the Resources tab from within the clinic once the clinic has started).
- You do not have to start and finish the module in one session. You can exit the module at any time by clicking on the “Exit Module” link on the screen, or by simply closing the browser tab. When you return to the clinic, you will be asked if you want to resume or not.
- NOTE: Even though you don’t have to watch in one sitting, you cannot simply leave the module running with a slide displayed when you are away for an extended period of time as you run the risk of not receiving credit.
- There is no certificate for online rules clinics. For coaches, your athletic director will have full visibility of whether or not you have started and finished a module.
- The slides must be advanced one at a time, manually using the player controls. At any time you can go back to review slides you have already viewed, but you can never skip slides you have not viewed.
- You will be presented with a few questions throughout that must be answered before you can proceed.
- Each person that views the clinic must be logged into their account in order to get credit. If taken using anyone else’s e-mail address other than your own (including your administrator’s), you will have to re-take the clinic.
If you are a coach and have trouble logging into the system, contact your athletic director to ensure your email address is properly entered into the system and if problems persist and a fellow member of the coaching staff is unable to help you, contact the KHSAA office.
THOSE SERVING AS BOTH COACH AND OFFICIAL IN THE SAME SPORT
- Several of you may serve as officials and coaches. In that case, you may want credit for completing the clinic as both an official and a coach.
- If that is the case, complete the clinic under arbitersports.com using the instructions for the officials, then contact our office at officialsinfo@khsaa.org and request that the clinic be also applied to your work as a coach.
