Member schools desiring to participate in KHSAA sponsored postseason competition shall notify the Association office prior to September 1.
The Commissioner shall divide the state into geographic sections within six (6) enrollment based classes with the approval of the Board of Control. In the interim, newly added or deleted programs will be handled on a case by case basis by the Commissioners office.
For postseason competition, in Class 1A, for 2023 and 2024, the fifth place team in District 7 will become the fourth place team in District 8 for the purpose of playoff cross-bracketing.
For postseason competition, in Class 6A, for 2023, Districts 3 and 5 will be cross-bracketed as Region 2 for playoffs and Districts 4 and 6 will be cross-bracketed as Region 3 for playoffs.
For postseason competition, in Class 6A, for 2024, Districts 3 and 6 will be cross-bracketed as Region 2 for playoffs and Districts 4 and 5 will be cross-bracketed as Region 3 for playoffs.

A complete realignment will be done during the 2023-24 school year, with the average boys grade 9-12 enrollment of the 2022-23 and 2023-24 being used to break into classes, without the option for any school to voluntarily opt-in to a higher class. The 2023-24 enrollment will be used twice, and the 2022-23 enrollment used once in calculating this average.
