As many of you know, Unified Track and Field was introduced to Kentucky this season with the new partnership between Special Olympics Kentucky and the KHSAA.  Please take a moment to read this article by the Murray Ledger about Murray High Schools experience this past week as the Murray Tigers added several new members to their track team including students with disabilities and students without disabilities competing together.

The KHSAA looks forward to four confirmed schools with special needs athletes competing in the regional competitions over the next few weeks. The schools participating in Unified are Murray, Ballard, and North Hardin, as well as Wayne County and their wheelchair athlete.

In a survey conducted in April over 20 schools confirmed that they are considering adding the program for next track and field season. The KHSAA and SOKY look forward to the program growing.  Please contact apassafiume@khsaa.org or abell@soky.org for more information.
