The 2016 Leachman Buick•GMC•Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championships get underway tomorrow morning when the girls’ tournament begins with 7 a.m. (CT) tee times at the Bowling Green Country Club. The girls’ championship concludes with second round action on Wednesday, starting with tee times at 8 a.m. (CT). The boys’ competition begins Friday morning with the first 18 holes of the event, with groups teeing off at 7 a.m. (CT), followed by Saturday’s championship round at 8 a.m. (CT).

Madison Central captured the 2015 girls’ team title with a two-day total of 629 (316-313), edging runner-up Elizabethtown (632) by three strokes. Paducah Tilghman’s Teri Doss earned medalist honors with a six-under par 138 total (69-69), with Madison Central’s Tristyn Nowlin finishing one-shot back at five-under par 139 (72-67).

On the boys’ side, St. Xavier enters this year’s event in search of its third-straight team title. The Tigers set a state record last season with a 19-under par 557 team score (278-279) to repeat as team champions. The individual title needed extra holes to be decided, with Franklin County’s C.J. Jones edging Lyon County’s Cullan Brown on the fourth playoff hole to claim medalist honors. The duo finished the 36 holes with matching eight-under par 136 totals.
