The KHSAA will move forward with a six-dive (6) format for regional diving competition, in accordance with NFHS diving rules.

DIVE FORMAT & NFHS RULE GUIDANCE

  • The choice of dives will be governed by NFHS Rule 9-4-3;
  • In a six-dive meet format:
    • The competition shall consist of one voluntary dive, which must be performed first.
    • Week 1 – forward group, Week 2 – back group, Week 3 – inward group, Week 4 – twisting group, Week 5 – reverse group, etc.
    • This will be followed by five optional dives, coming from at least four of the five groups and which may include any of the dives other than the voluntary dive.
    • Any dive from a group may be designated as a voluntary dive.
    • Any designated voluntary dive with a degree of difficulty greater than 1.8 will be assigned a degree of difficulty of 1.8.

REGIONAL DIVING SITE & DATES

  • Regional diving will be held at Scott High School on January 20-21. The time schedule is tentative and may be adjusted slightly based on the number of entries.
  • Jan 20 – Regions 1, 3, 6, 8, 9
    • Boys Warm-up 8:30 AM
    • Boys Dive 9:30 AM-11:30 PM
    • Girls Warm-up 12:00 PM
    • Girls Dive 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM
  • Jan 21 – Regions 2, 4, 5, 7
    • Boys Warm-up 8:30 AM
    • Boys Dive 9:30 AM-11:30 PM
    • Girls Warm-up 12:00 PM
    • Girls Dive 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM

ENTRY PROCESS & DEADLINES

  • Dive entries must be submitted by January 16 at 5:00 PM ET for all regions.
  • All entries should be completed through DiveMeets.com and Hytek (with swimming entries).
  • To be eligible to participate in the KHSAA Regional and State Diving meets, a contestant must have successfully completed all optional dives on the entry form prior to attempting those dives in a postseason championship meet (verified by the coach in practice or a meet).

POSTSEASON DIVING ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • By entering into the member school’s Regional Championship, the coach and athletic director of the member school certify that all divers and diving alternates have each successfully completed all optional dives on the entry form prior to attempting those dives in a postseason championship meet (practice or meet).
  • Dives may be changed up to one hour prior to the start of the diving competition.
  • Additional step-by-step instructions for entry will be available in the regional instructions that will be sent directly to coaches prior to the postseason.

About the Kentucky High School Athletic Association

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association was organized in 1917 and is the agency designated by the Kentucky Department of Education to manage high school athletics in the Commonwealth. The Association is a voluntary nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of 290 member schools, both public and non-public.
