With the regular season quickly approaching, please take a moment to review the following reminders.

GIRLS’ OPC
Female wrestlers already assessed in the boys’ season will be copied to your girls’ team roster by Trackwrestling on Nov. 14. This copy is done en masse and can only be completed once per year. To make sure your assessments are ready to be copied over, you should plan on having everything entered by the end of the day on Nov. 13. Once your OPC payment has been made, the student-athletes will be ready to start participating in the girls’ season if they so choose.

After the mass import is completed, any new female wrestler who needs to be assessed must have their data entered into the season in which they will be participating. If a female athlete plans to participate in both the boys’ and girls’ seasons, her assessment data will need to be entered twice—once into the boys’ season and once into the girls’ season. The girls’ OPC is what is used for the postseason, so it is imperative that the information is entered into that system.

Assessments will not be transferred from the boys’ season into the girls’ season after Trackwrestling completes its mass import. The data has to be manually entered into both seasons.

Logins to the girls’ wrestling OPC will be sent out by Trackwrestling once the mass import is completed.

SCRIMMAGE LIMITATIONS
There have been a few inquiries recently regarding permissible activities related to scrimmages. Bylaw 23 (Limitation of Seasons) outlines the limitations on allowable scrimmages. Case situation BL-23-13 is included below as a reminder.

Each school may participate in two scrimmages prior to the start of regular season competition, with each one lasting no more than three consecutive hours (start to finish, including breaks). Alternatively, a team may combine its two allowable scrimmages into one six-hour block if it so desires.

Case BL-23-13- What are the limitations on the allowable scrimmages?
The following are the limitations and regulations on allowable scrimmages:
(1) Each school is limited to a total of two preseason scrimmages of any type against competitors not eligible to be on the team’s roster at all levels of play (grades 9-12) in each sport;
(2) Both scrimmages (or one if that is the school’s choice) shall be held prior to the first varsity contest in a sport;
(3) The total elapsed time from the start of each scrimmage until the end shall be no longer than three consecutive hours (start to finish, including any breaks) and all competition activity shall be held at the same site. This time limit is not playing time, but elapsed time on the clock and starts when the first team member at any level engages a person from another team in any manner. The restriction allows for participation in any fashion with outside opponents for a single, continuous, three hour period. It is possible that the varsity, junior varsity and freshmen teams could oppose each other in game simulation settings and only be charged with one scrimmage if the TOTAL amount of time scrimmaged for all team levels combined from start to finish is less than three hours.
