11/25/25- Football Schools Reminded to Submit Spring Practice Dates, Helmet Reconditioning
Helmet Reconditioning
A reminder to all schools that the helmet reconditioners always need to receive the equipment as soon as possible in order to have it back in time for spring practice.
Delays in sending the equipment off for reconditioning should not be a reason to delay spring practice if you send it well in advance.
Refer to the links available at https://khsaa.org/2025-26-naera-helmet-and-equipment-reconditioning-information/ for additional notes and clarifications.
Spring Practice Dates
Per KHSAA Bylaw 23, each school must submit its spring practice dates on or before December 15, 2025, for the spring 2026 practice period.
Each football school may conduct ten (10) spring practice periods of not more than two (2) hours in length and not more than one practice per day over ten (10) days during three consecutive calendar weeks, which shall be chosen by the school on or before December 15.
Failure to submit the schedule by this date will result in […]

11/24/25 – 2026 Cross Country Championships
For Your Information
We would like to share an update with our administrators and coaches regarding the status of the 2026 State Cross Country Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park. There had been public concerns expressed by various entities and relayed to our office regarding the availability of the facility due to the 2026 Breeders’ Cup being hosted at Keeneland in Lexington. As many of you know, except for a brief period when the meet was relocated (initially due to COVID-19-imposed restrictions), the Park has been the home of the state meet for decades.
After direct communication with the Kentucky Horse Park, the KHSAA staff has confirmed that the facility will be available and no current or anticipated conflict exists for us to hold the scheduled KHSAA State Cross Country Meet on October 31, 2026. The Horse Park has reiterated its strong commitment to both the KHSAA and its members, as […]

11/21/25 – Clarification to Weigh-In Procedure
In an effort to address issues surrounding weigh-in procedures, meet management shall establish a set time for weigh-ins at each event, rather than a weigh-in “window.”
In past practice, having a window of time for weigh-ins could result in teams arriving at the end of the timeframe, causing delays to the competition start time, bracket changes/redraws, etc.
NFHS Rule 4-5-3 states that “For any event, all contestants shall be present in and remain in the designated weigh-in area at the time established by the meet administration.”
With this in mind, all competitors shall be present at the designated time of weigh-ins, with an emphasis on the following:

I have received a few questions regarding scheduling for the upcoming lacrosse season. Please review the reminders and updates below as you prepare for spring. If you have any questions or need clarification, please feel free to reach out.
ALIGNMENT – Transition from Regions to Districts
This year, we are transitioning to lacrosse districts for alignment purposes. This change does not affect the schools you were previously grouped with—your former region will now simply be referred to as your district. For example, if you were in Region 1 last year, you are now in District 1.
Below are links to the current team alignments based on information submitted by member schools in Arbiter. Please note that the deadline to add a lacrosse team for this season is February 2 (the first practice date).

11/13/25 – Board of Control to Monitor Possible Changes in Several Sports
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NOV. 13, 2025
The KHSAA Board of Control conducted its November 13th meeting, the third of the 2025-26 academic year, in Lexington with numerous conversations concerning tennis, soccer, diving, lacrosse and wrestling.
Significant changes could be coming to boys’ and girls’ individual and doubles tennis state tournaments as the board attempts to address significant facility issues with its current format. The board will evaluate, much like golf, a format that would have those that advance from region tournaments (champions, runners-up and semifinalists) playing at four different satellite venues in the first round of the state tournament. The first-round state events will consist of four sites, with four regions at each site (i.e., Regions 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, and 13-16). The format would create sixteen entrants in brackets at each state first round event.
Competitors will have to win two matches to advance to the […]

11/10/25 – Girls’ Wrestling OPC, Scrimmage Reminders
With the regular season quickly approaching, please take a moment to review the following reminders.
GIRLS’ OPC
Female wrestlers already assessed in the boys’ season will be copied to your girls’ team roster by Trackwrestling on Nov. 14. This copy is done en masse and can only be completed once per year. To make sure your assessments are ready to be copied over, you should plan on having everything entered by the end of the day on Nov. 13. Once your OPC payment has been made, the student-athletes will be ready to start participating in the girls’ season if they so choose.
After the mass import is completed, any new female wrestler who needs to be assessed must have their data entered into the season in which they will be participating. If a female athlete plans to participate in both the boys’ and girls’ seasons, her assessment data will need to be […]

11/06/25- Additional Reminder about Weather Shortened and Interrupted Football Games
While no one (apparently even professionals) can ever accurately predict the weather, we are again sending this notice from September 5 about interrupted games just in case.
The only difference now is that we obviously have a hard deadline of this weekend to complete this round of playoffs.
RESCHEDULING GAMES
- If your game is rescheduled, it is critical that you submit a revised FB106 form with the new information.
- We will continue to manage all brackets and information within KHSAA360 (ArbiterSports) and our bracket system once you complete the form.
- DO NOT CHANGE the information on your own KHSAA360 (ArbiterSports page) as it is important to keep all versions of the schedule and brackets in sync.
INTERRUPTED GAMES
Interrupted games are not a new phenomenon and have a well-defined procedure in football, which has remained unchanged for several years. The only items mentioned in this summary are those relevant to the […]
