2014 KHSAA Hall of Fame Press Conference Set For June 2

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association will hold a press conference on Sunday, June 2 at 1:30 p.m. to announce the KHSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2014. The Hall of Fame announcement will take place at the KHSAA Offices in Lexington (2280 Executive Drive), and will be streamed live online at khsaa.tv.

The KHSAA will hold its annual Hall of Fame Golf Scramble on Tuesday, June 18 at the Marriott Griffin Gate Golf Course in Lexington. The event begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., followed by a luncheon at 1:15 p.m. The golf scramble is open to the public at a cost of $85 per person, or $300 for a foursome. Interested parties should contact Assistant Commissioner Angela Passafiume.

The 2014 Hall of Fame banquet is scheduled for Sunday, April 27 in the Bluegrass Ballroom at the Lexington Center.
 

District Tournaments Begin For Baseball, Fast Pitch Softball

The 2013 postseason got underway in baseball and fast pitch softball on Sunday with a handful of district tournament games. District competition is scheduled through Thursday, May 23, with the Regional Tournaments running May 27-June 1.

Among the many storylines across the state, Pleasure Ridge Park head coach Bill Miller heads into the postseason tied with former Green County coach Larry Gumm for first-place on the state’s all-time list for career victories with 1,006 wins. Miller will look to overtake Gumm on the state’s all-time list when PRP returns to action Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the winner of the Valley-Beth Haven game.

Meanwhile, Greenwood’s softball team closed out the regular season with a perfect 34-0 record. Greenwood will continue its quest to become the first undefeated fast pitch softball team in state history on Tuesday at 6 p.m. when the Lady Gators face the winner of the South Warren-Warren Central matchup.

The 2013 Forcht Bank/KHSAA Baseball State Tournament will take place June 3-8 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, while the 2013 Rawlings/KHSAA Fast Pitch Softball State Tournament will be held June 6-8 at Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro.
 

Credential Applications Open For Spring Championships

Applications for media credentials for the 2013 Forcht Bank/KHSAA Baseball and 2013 Rawlings/KHSAA Fast Pitch Softball State Tournaments are now being accepted online. Interested media members can apply for credentials online by going to credentials.khsaa.org, and following the link to “Request Spring Sports (TN, TR, FP, BA) Credentials.”
