FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 10, 2014

The Board of Control conducted its first meeting since the start of the 2014-15 academic year at the KHSAA Office on Wednesday morning. In a meeting revolving mainly around board policies and procedures, the Board set October 21 as the date for a special appeals meeting regarding sanctions handed down to Cordia High School. This matter will be the only business discussed during October’s meeting.

The Board heard various reports during Wednesday’s meeting including an update on the membership Financial Aid Report, an update on Internal/External Corporate Sponsorships, and also reviewed a presentation on Middle School regulations given by Associate Commissioner Butch Cope during the NFHS Summer Meeting.

In other Board action on Wednesday:
?The Board had first discussion on a possible realignment in Swimming and Diving intended to expand the number of regions. With the Board’s feedback in mind, the Association staff was asked to come back to the Board with proposals in November.
?The Board approved a motion to move the April meeting to Tuesday, April 21.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association was organized in 1917 and is the agency designated by the Kentucky Department of Education to manage high school athletics in the Commonwealth. The Association is a voluntary nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of 277 member schools both public and private.
