04/25/16 – Draw Show For Baseball, Softball and Tennis Set For 12 PM Wednesday

The draws for the 2016 Republic Bank/KHSAA Tennis Team Championship, the Rawlings/KHSAA Baseball State Tournament and the Worth/KHSAA Softball State Tournament will be determined Wednesday, April 27th at 12 p.m. when the Draw Show is conducted at the Association’s headquarters and webcast at KHSAA.tv.

This year will mark the first time Tennis is included in the spring Draw Show, as recommended changes from the Kentucky Medical Association’s Sports Medicine Committee led to the Board of Control approving a format change to the state Tennis tournament. The changes separated the team championship event from the singles/doubles competition, which were traditionally played together, in order to limit the number of matches a student-athlete could compete in each day. The Draw Show will be streamed live online at KHSAA.tv, with complete brackets available on the KHSAA website following the draw. Brackets for Baseball and Softball will also be available on the KHSAA/Riherds.com Scoreboard.

The 2016 Republic Bank/KHSAA State Tennis Championships will begin with the team tournament, May 14-15, at the Sayre Tennis Complex and Shillito Park in Lexington, followed by the singles and doubles competition the following week (May 19-21). The Worth/KHSAA Softball State Tournament will be held June 9-11 at Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro. The Rawlings/KHSAA Baseball State Tournament begins June 9-11 with first round and quarterfinal action at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, home of the Lexington Legends, and resumes the following weekend with the semifinals and championship game, June 17th and 18th.
