RE: Update on the Drafting of 2027 and 2028 Football Alignment, Opportunity to Withdraw From District Play or Make Other Notes for Consideration
At a special meeting on April 15, 2026, the KHSAA Board of Control discussed and confirmed the parameters surrounding an alignment of teams in football for the 2025 and 2026 playing seasons. This communication is solely about classification and geographic alignment development. The needed information was received from the KDE around the mid part of January, and has been formatted in accordance with the Board’s approved process. Information about the realignment, including drafting maps, is available online on the khsaa.org/football website, by selecting the “Football Alignment/Realignment Information” pull-down menu.

We again want to thank each of you for your long-time dedication to the two weeks of basketball tournaments. We often talk about our devoted staff and volunteers, and how they truly make this the greatest show in hoops! We know most of you have all of this information in various forms, but want to be sure we have it in one concise place.
As every year, there are a few changes, so we want to be sure you are aware of them, as well as the logistics for this year. We have talked with almost all of you, either by phone or text, as we have tried to finalize plans.
The detailed information below should answer any questions you have, but as always, feel free to reach out for anything else. Below is a complete list of workers for this week’s tournaments, housing information, and other details just in case you need phone numbers.

Coaches meeting Bylaw 25 KHSAA Coaching Requirements shall receive a wristband based upon team qualifiers.
- One to two (1-2) qualifier(s) affords a maximum of two (2) complimentary admissions;
- Three to six (3-6) qualifiers afford a maximum of three (3) complimentary admissions;
- Seven (7) to 12 qualifiers afford a maximum of four (4) complimentary admissions;
- 13 to 20 qualifiers afford a maximum of five (5) complimentary admissions;
- 21 and above afford a maximum of six (6) complimentary admissions.
The KHSAA rosters and coaches lists were required to be submitted prior to the regional meets, and no further additions/corrections can be made. This list has been prepared so member schools can plan accordingly. This is the total number of complimentary admissions per school.
