11/22/24 – UK Healthcare Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Seeks Nominations for Kentucky Comeback Athlete of the Year Award
For the ninth year, UK Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, through its partnership with the KHSAA, seeks nominations for the Kentucky Comeback Athlete of the Year, meeting the following criteria:
- The nominee must have overcome illness or injury that affected their ability to participate in KHSAA-sanctioned sports.
- The nominee must have returned to their sport(s) and demonstrated excellence and achievement beyond expectations.
- The student-athlete must consistently demonstrate good sportsmanship and ethical behavior on and off the playing field.
- The nominee must be in verified good academic standing with their school.
- The student must have participated and been a member of an athletic team during the 2023-24 academic year.
- Nominations should be submitted by January 31, 2025, to the KHSAA via form GE36 at http://khsaa.org/ge36-uk-healthcare-comeback-athlete-of-the-year/.
- Nominees will then be sent to UK Orthopedics and Sports Medicine for review and selection.

11/19/24- Football Schools Reminded to Submit Spring Practice Dates, Helmet Reconditioning
Helmet Reconditioning
A reminder to all schools that the helmet reconditioners always need to receive the equipment as soon as practical in order to have it back in time for spring practice.
Delays in sending the equipment off for reconditioning should not be a reason to delay spring practice if you send them well in advance.

Spring Practice Dates
Per KHSAA Bylaw 23, each school must submit its spring practice dates on or before December 15, 2024, for the spring, 2025 spring practice period.

This message is being sent to all Licensed KHSAA Basketball Officials. Our apologies for any duplicate notification; however, during our transition with the movement of our school data system, we are trying to ensure that notice is sent through a variety of means.The online KHSAA Rules Clinic for officials in the sport of basketball is available through Arbitersports at khsaaofficials.org. Please excuse the production delay as there have been issues with planned elements and video review that have now resulted in those being removed and the clinic posted. This clinic is a part of the requirements for postseason eligibility in basketball for 2025.

11/04/24- Required Rules Clinic Available for Coaches in Basketball
This message is being sent to all Athletic Directors (including assistants), Coaches in the sport of Basketball, and anyone with the role of District Admin in Arbitersports.
The mandatory online KHSAA Rules Clinic for the sport of Basketball is available through your KHSAA360/ArbiterSports Eligibility Dashboard. Please excuse the production delay as there have been issues with planned elements and video review that have now resulted in those being removed and the clinic posted.
The clinic is required of all coaches (varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen), regardless of whether or not the coach receives pay.
New for the 24-25 school year: You no longer log into the KHSAA Member School Portal to view your rules clinic or complete your other Bylaw 25 requirements. All Coaching functions have been migrated to the newly developed KHSAA360 System (in ArbiterSports).

2024 Kentucky Beef Council State Cross Country Meet Coach Pass Allocation
Complimentary admission for Cross Country coaches will be a wristband provided in the team packet.
Coaches meeting Bylaw 25 KHSAA Coaching Requirements shall receive the following number of complimentary admission passes (these do not have course access as those are handled separately for the allowed number of coaches passes):
- One to two (1-2) qualifier(s) affords a maximum of two (2) complimentary admissions;
- Three to six (3-6) qualifiers afford a maximum of three (3) complimentary admissions;
- Seven to ten (7-10) qualifiers afford a maximum of four (4) complimentary admissions.
- Eleven (11) or more afford a maximum of five (5) complimentary admissions.
The KHSAA rosters and coaches lists were required to be submitted prior to the regional meets and no further additions/corrections can be made. This list has been prepared so member schools can plan accordingly.

Updated as Received. This form is required if a school withdraws from playoff competition.
If such withdrawal is prior to the final breaking of all ties:
- There is no penalty
- If applicable (a 1-4 seed withdrawing and more than four teams in a district), then the brackets may be edited to allow a replacement team.
If such withdrawal is after the breaking of all ties:
- The member school shall be assessed a by-class fine schedule for withdrawal from postseason.
- In addition to the cost of trophies, the fine is $1200 for Class 1A and 2A, $1500 for Class 3A, $2000 for Class 4A and 5A, and $2500 for Class 6A.
- All except $400 per fine will be sent to the opponent whose game is canceled.
- The fine may only be removed or reduced due to natural disaster, the results of documented and declared pandemic situations or other seemingly catastrophic occurrence.

10/18/24 – KHSAA member school students invited to apply for 2025 Kentucky Ag Athletes-of-the-Year
KDA-KHSAA partnership to award six scholarships to Kentucky student-athletes
Kentucky student-athletes who are involved in agriculture are invited to apply for one of six scholarships and recognition as a 2025 Kentucky Ag Athlete of the Year.
The program is a partnership of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA).
“Discipline, teamwork, patience, and goal setting are attributes athletes use every time they step on the field or the court. These are the same skills you use for success when stepping into the field of agriculture,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell. “We are pleased to join our partners at the KHSAA to once again honor these attributes and reward the Commonwealth’s best young athletes and agriculturists.”
To qualify, student-athletes must be Kentucky farmers or involved in agriculture, must be graduating seniors in high school, and must be accepted to a college, university, or trade school following graduation. An […]
