02/26/15 – KHSAA Swimming & Diving Championships Begin Tonight; Hall of Fame Tickets on Sale

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FEBRUARY 10, 2015

The 2015 KHSAA Swimming & Diving Championships (Feb. 26-28) begin tonight at the Ralph Wright Natatorium in Louisville with the boys’ diving preliminaries at 6 p.m. Competition resumes Friday morning with the boys’ swimming prelims at 10 a.m., followed by the girls’ swimming prelims at 3:30 p.m. and the girls’ diving prelims at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday’s championship finals begin with the boys’ competition at 10 a.m. The girls’ finals are scheduled for a 4:15 p.m. start time. Tickets go on sale to the public at 9 a.m. on Friday for the morning session, and 2:30 p.m. for the afternoon session. On Saturday, ticket sales begin at 9 a.m. for the boys’ finals and 3:15 p.m. for the girls’ championship.

Last year’s state meet saw Sacred Heart establish eight new state records as it racked up a total of 502 points to capture its second-straight state title. On the boys’ side, St. Xavier held off Covington Catholic, 361 to 328.5, to pick up its 26th-consecutive championship.

Tickets on Sale for Hall of Fame Banquet on March 21

The Dawahares/KHSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2015 will be inducted in an afternoon ceremony at the Lexington Center on Saturday, March 21st prior to the semifinals of the 2015 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys’ Sweet 16®. The banquet starts with a social hour at 12 p.m., followed by a luncheon at 1 p.m. and the induction ceremony at 2 p.m.

This year’s class consists of Ron Bevars (North Hardin), Kyra Elzy (Oldham County), Rich Hendrick (Bristow), Dudley Hilton (Breathitt Co., Bell Co., Bourbon Co., Taylor Co.), Adrienne Hundemer (Dayton), Dennis Johnson (Harrodsburg), Crystal Kelly (Sacred Heart), Freddie Maggard (Cumberland), Dan Manley (Media contributor) and Dickie Parsons (Harlan).
