FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 2, 2019

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association and longtime corporate partner Leachman Buick GMC have reached an agreement on a contract extension which will see the latter’s sponsorship of the state golf championships reach 21-consecutive years when the new contract expires in June of 2025.

“We at Leachman Buick GMC are extremely excited to extend our sponsorship commitment for the Boys and Girls State Golf Championships for an additional five years. The opportunity to be a part of our young student-athletes’ endeavors is something we do not take lightly and we always hope that the State Championship is a memory that positively affects each participant for life,” said David Jaggers, Leachman GMC Buick Executive Manager/Partner. “This extension will guarantee our sponsorship of this great event for 21-consecutive years and we hope that this event continues to grow and improve each and every year. We would like to thank Bowling Green Country Club, Club Pro Jeff McGill and all the members of BGCC for their continued support of these athletes and the game of golf.”

Leachman Buick GMC began its sponsorship of the state golf championships when the event moved to the Bowling Green Country Club in 2004. Having sponsored the event for the last 15 years, Leachman’s current contract was set to expire following the 2019 state championships – a 16-year span. The new five-year extension will extend its sponsorship through the 2024 state championships.

“Our Association is very aware of the sacrifices and efforts made by the staff and members of this great golf course and the deep and genuine commitment to students that is represented by the support from the folks at Leachman Buick GMC,” said KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett. “The combination of their efforts continues to allow for the refinement and development of an outstanding experience for the participants.”

The 2019 Leachman Buick·GMC·Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championships will be held Oct. 7-12 at the Bowling Green Country Club.
