The KHSAA Annual Meeting of Delegates will be held Wednesday, September 19th at the Lexington Center, starting at 8 a.m. with three information and continuous improvement sessions for athletic administrators. The day’s agenda begins with a workshop on The Changing Resources Available to Athletic Directors (NFHS Network, Huddle/Go Fan, Arbiter Sports), followed by a presentation on the Latest Information on NCAA Eligibility Requirements (Heather McAtee, University of Kentucky), and a segment on Preserving Interscholastic Athletics (Phil Rison, NIAAA).

The business meeting is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. in Bluegrass Ballroom 2, with four proposals up for consideration at this year’s meeting:

  • Amend Bylaw 6 to remove the restriction on transfer in sports for which the student has no previous participation record.
  • Amend Bylaw 6 to create an exception to the one-year period of ineligibility when evidence is submitted with the original request for eligibility that verifies violations of KRS 158.148 (bullying).
  • Amend Bylaws 6, 7 and 8 to remove the place participation in practice and nonvarsity competition at the discretion of the member school as is the case with the other Bylaws.
  • Amend Bylaws 10 and 27 to place the acceptance of improper benefits as a penalty under Bylaw 10 and the place a penalty for receiving those improper benefits in Bylaw 27.

Each KHSAA member school is represented by one delegate at the Annual Meeting that can vote on all proposals for change to KHSAA rules and regulations. More information on the Annual Meeting and this year’s proposals can be found through the links below.

About the Kentucky High School Athletic Association
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association was organized in 1917 and is the agency designated by the Kentucky Department of Education to manage high school athletics in the Commonwealth. The Association is a voluntary nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of 280 member schools both public and private. The KHSAA sanctions 44 state championships in 13 sports and 5 sport-activities, licenses and trains over 4,000 officials, provides catastrophic insurance for its more than 70,000 member school student-athletes, as well as overseeing coaching education and sports safety programs.
