The number of qualifiers for each region and each division of Competitive Cheer is released in this notice. Statewide declarations supported the divisions with more than 16 participating schools entered to be pro-rated by region so as not to penalize larger regions. Any division with less than 16 entries will advance to the KHSAA State Championships provided each squad competes at the region event.  After reviewing the declarations/withdrawals, this chart illustrates the updated number of squads per division and per region that will qualify for state competition. 

 

All-Girls Small – minimum 5, maximum of 15

All-Girls Medium – minimum 16, maximum of 19

All-Girls Large – minimum 20, maximum of 23

All-Girls Super – minimum 24, maximum of 30

Coed Division – 1 or more boys, minimum 5, maximum of 30

Game Day, Small (minimum 5, maximum 17)

Game Day, Large (minimum 18, maximum 30)

The 2022-23 KHSAA State Cheer Championships will be held on December 9-10 at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester. December 9 will feature the Game Day squads (small and large) and December 10 will feature all other divisions. After all regionals are complete, a finalized detailed time schedule will be developed for the state championships.

About the Kentucky High School Athletic Association
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association was organized in 1917 and is the agency designated by the Kentucky Department of Education to manage high school athletics in the Commonwealth. The Association is a voluntary nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of 287 member schools both public and non-public. The KHSAA awards 215 state championships to 51 teams and 164 individuals in 13 sports and 6 sport-activities, funds catastrophic insurance coverage for its more than 106,000 rostered member school student-athletes, provides coaching education and sports safety programs for more than 12,000 coaches, and licenses and facilitates the distribution of training material for over 4,000 contest officials.
