11/03/16 – Nine Team State Titles Up For Grabs During Fall Championship Weekend

A total of nine teams will earn the title of state champion on Saturday and Sunday as the KHSAA’s Fall Championship weekend wraps up the 2016 soccer, cross country and volleyball seasons. Six state champions will be crowned Saturday morning during the 2016 KHSAA Cross Country State Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park. Championship action continues that evening in Lexington with the finals of the girls’ and boys’ state soccer tournaments at Bryan Station HS with the first game starting at 5 p.m. The 2016 KHSAA State Volleyball Tournament begins Friday morning with first round matches at Valley HS in Louisville and concludes with the championship match at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

KHSAA.tv will produce live webcasts of the championship games of the KHSAA State Soccer Tournament, as well as the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of the KHSAA State Volleyball Tournament. A highlight package of the 2016 KHSAA Cross Country State Meet will be available at KHSAA.tv following the event.

All KHSAA video webcasts will be a part of the NFHS Network (http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/), with links available at KHSAA.tv. Subscription plans for the NFHS Network are available for $9.95 a month. A monthly subscription, priced less than the cost of admission to a state championship event, entitles users to every broadcast by the KHSAA and the more than 40 participating state associations.

A free audio-only feed of the webcast events will also be available online through Mixlr (http://mixlr.com/khsaa/), which has a corresponding app available for iOS and Android devices. Audio for the state volleyball matches will be available at http://mixlr.com/khsaa2/.

The 2016 KHSAA Volleyball State Tournament begins with first round action Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. as Henderson County takes on Apollo. The last match of the opening round will see McCracken County face Henry Clay at 8 p.m. Quarterfinal action picks up Saturday morning at 10 a.m., with the semifinals starting at 7 p.m. that night. Sunday’s championship match is set for 2 p.m.

The 2016 KHSAA Cross Country State Meet begins Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the Class 1A Boys’ race, followed by the Class 1A Girls at 10:15 a.m. The Class 2A meet is scheduled to begin with the boys at 11:30 a.m., with the Class 3A meet slated to start at 1:30 p.m. A full state meet schedule is available at:
