The Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) Board of Control conducted its second regularly scheduled meeting of the 2026-27 academic year on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Board approved the revised bowling alignment for the 2026-27 school year. The staff and Board had been reviewing that alignment and gathering data due to the consolidation of bowling centers since 2020, as well as to balance regional tournament fields by team count. The Staff will be sending out the new alignment in the coming days.

The Board also approved final parameters for the basketball shot clock, including special resets for defensive fouls and for the defense kicking the ball. These parameters should be used during games this year, when the shot clock is in effect, and will be the standard for the mandatory option year of 2026-27. These parameters will be placed in the competition rules.

The Board heard several requests concerning district and regional realignment as part of its public comment session, including:

Buckhorn High School addressed the Board and requested a move from the 54th district to the 55th district, and for Cordia to move from the 53rd district to the 54th to balance the district alignment within the 14th Region.

Floyd Central High School requested that the Board realign the 58th District by moving Lawrence County to the 57th District, where it was a member for several years, and by moving one of the current members of the 57th District to the 58th District.

Fort Knox High School is seeking a move from the 5th Region to the 6th Region due to logistical changes and base ingress and egress.

Meade County is seeking to move from the basketball 3rd region to the 5th region, citing its location as the sole 3rd region school in the Eastern Time Zone as the primary reason for its request

No action was taken on these public comments, which will be further discussed at the November meeting, when all impacted schools will have an opportunity to provide feedback. The Board’s consideration of these requests is part of the ever-changing landscape of district and regional alignment processes.

The Board also:

Approved the contract extension with Teall Properties Group as the Corporate Partner Sales and marketing entity for the Association, as well as managing the KHSAA novelty proposal solicitation program.

Approved the Board of Control goals and objectives for the year, which define areas of focus in many cases outside the scope of normal business, and the development of which are required under 702 KAR 7:065.
