10/04/24- Football Nominations Sought For Midway Student Athlete-of-the-Year Awards
The KHSAA is excited to open the nomination process for the Midway University/KHSAA Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year among Football participants for 2024-2025 Midway University previously expanded its partnership to include both male and female nominations.
This award is based on athletic and academic achievement as well as community service and leadership. The link to the application contains additional criteria and a form to nominate one participant from each 2024-2025 team. Nominations must come from a member school, but can be submitted by an administrator, guidance counselor, or coach. Nominations may only be submitted online at https://khsaa.org/ge35-midway-university-khsaa-student-athlete-of-the-year-nomination-form/
The winner will be announced early in the postseason and current plans call for the winners to be recognized at an awards banquet at Midway University in early summer 2025. As was finalized during the recently concluded Regional Meetings, and at the request of the membership, the KHSAA will conduct two IN-PERSON training meetings around the KHSAA360/ArbiterSports platform. We are pleased that not only will members of our staff be present, but we will also have representatives from the development and support team at Arbiter there to work both collectively and individually with many of our members.
As we begin to wrap up the fall season and head into the winter season, this will be a productive time to get the latest information, offer and discuss constructive feedback, and continue to work together during this transition.
These will be conducted in person on:

9/19/24- REMINDER- KHSAA to Again Conduct Title IX Education Meetings for All Schools
As was mentioned at the recently concluded Regional Meetings, the KHSAA will again conduct two Title IX Webinars for 2024-25 on October 3rd and 4th. These will be conducted via Zoom to afford the membership more opportunities to appear.
- The first will be on Thursday morning, October 3 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
- The second will be on Friday morning, October 4 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
THESE SEMINARS ARE NOT SOLELY FOR THOSE SCHOOLS WITH A FIELD AUDIT SCHEDULED IN 2024-2025.
This workshop should be extremely beneficial for all member schools as it will review the Title IX Education program that is conducted by the KHSAA as required by State Regulations. Since these meetings are being held as Zoom Webinars, attendees will be muted but can submit questions to the panelists via the Q&A feature of the webinars.

This workshop will be held in Lexington at the Central Bank Center and will offer a deep dive into current Constitution and Bylaws provisions, use of forms and operational notes. This meeting will be held on October 17, 2024. This meeting will count for six hours of the hours required for the Athletic Director’s continual improvement in Bylaw 25.

08/23/24- Additional Clarification and Guidance – WBGT and Fall Competitions
The KMA Sports Medicine Committee held a special meeting on Wednesday, August 21st to review the final pieces of the transition to Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) from the Heat Index as the measurement for when activity should be altered.
While we have thus far been blessed with an abundance of cool days this fall, we know it is still August, and competitions present challenges slightly different than practices as go forward. This has been under near constant review and discussion using the other states (particularly Georgia) that have several years of WBGT experience.
With the full implementation of the Wet Bulb Globe, many schools and officials associations have asked for additional guidance. With those requests in mind, the Sports Medicine Committee considered and recommended approval on specific measurements around competition that may slightly vary from practices. ANNUAL MEETING
This reminder that the 2024 Annual Meeting of the membership of the KHSAA is to be held on September 17 at the Central Bank Center (FKA Lexington Center). Final agenda documents are being published as they become final in the coming weeks, but the meeting is expected to begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. ET. and conclude not later than 1:00 p.m. Details and requirements for the Annual Meeting Delegate are summarized below.
