FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 1, 2016

The KHSAA unveiled a new corporate partnership with the American Dairy Association (ADA) and the Kentucky Dairy Farm Families on Monday, which will make Chocolate Milk an Official Beverage of the Association. This new partnership provides an opportunity for the dairy farm families of Kentucky and KHSAA to promote nutrient-rich Chocolate Milk to KHSAA student-athletes, coaches and fans as a delicious and nutritious post-workout recovery beverage which helps to replenish nutrients lost during workouts, practices, weight training and games.

“Anytime you can partner with an organization in an effort to do something positive for student-athletes is a plus,” said KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett. “We are excited to welcome our new partner into the KHSAA family, and look forward to working alongside them to benefit our membership.”

Chocolate milk is an ideal beverage for student‐athletes to drink because it provides the unique nutrition-profile needed after sporting events and practices, including nine essential nutrients to improve bone growth and body composition. Some of those nutrients include:
– Carbohydrates to provide energy and help fuel muscles
– Protein to support growth and build lean muscles
– Vitamins and minerals to help build strong bones and bodies
– Protein and carbs to feed exhausted muscles
– Calcium, potassium, magnesium and sodium rehydrate and replenish nutrients lost in sweat.

The “Chocolate Milk Official Beverage of KHSAA” message will be featured at KHSAA State Championship events via signage, on-line digital program ads, banners, video boards, radio announcements and more.

Through this new venture, KHSAA member schools are eligible to participate in the “Coolers for Coaches Program”, through which the Kentucky Dairy Farm Families support the local community and encourage athletes to fuel up with Chocolate Milk. The program offers high school athletic departments the chance to receive a FREE glass-front door milk cooler refrigerator to keep Chocolate Milk cold and convenient for student-athletes.

The coolers are available in a limited quantity and will therefore be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Schools will then be placed on a first priority waiting list for the following year.
