05/17/17 – Reminder about Postseason Baseball/Softball Rosters

This reminder to all athletic directors, principals, and coaches at KHSAA member schools. Only those students who are indicated with a checkmark in the “postseason roster” column are eligible to compete in KHSAA sanctioned postseason competition.

The following are quick reminders to take the steps necessary to complete this task, and the instructions are contained in a short (around 4 minute) video at http://schools.khsaa.org/help-the-postseason-roster/. These steps will only work if you have administrator rights (principal/AD) or coach that has roster rights granted by an administrator:

• On the school’s login menu (http://schools.khsaa.org/), click on the link that says maintain specific team roster.
• Select the green box for the varsity team, and you will see the current roster of the varsity displayed.
• At the top or bottom of that listing, click on assign/unassign players.
• At the top of the roster column (under level) will be a button to initialize your postseason roster. If you have not already done so, clicking on this link will advance all of your varsity players to the postseason roster. 
• If you have athletes who have participated at the freshman or junior varsity levels but have not yet played varsity, simply check the postseason roster box beside their name to place them on the roster.
• If you are simply moving athletes who have not played varsity to the postseason roster, DO NOT CHECK THE VARSITY COLUMN. This will adversely impact a variety of participation count functions that are not needed.
• Be sure and click update/save changes when you have completed your work.
• Your postseason roster may now be printed from the view roster’s menu selection on the school’s page.
• This postseason roster listing is the only valid roster listing to indicate eligible athletes.
• By maintaining these rosters correctly, your athletes remain eligible and your end-of-year reports (Title IX/ participation) will remain accurate.
• The postseason roster serves only the purpose of eligibility and does not factor into any of your end-of-year reports or participation statistics.

For those advancing to championship play, only the postseason roster will be utilized for programs, rosters, media information and novelty items.
